Arian Leka (poet, prose writer and professor) belongs to a group of authors who became prominent after Albania opened up as a country and are considered the avant-garde. He has written sixteen books of prose and poetry and won six national literary awards, four out of which are for the best book of the year. His works have been translated into major European languages and are included in several recognized anthologies. He is the founder of a residential stay programme for writers in Tirana called Poeteka and a literary magazine with the same name. He is member of the European Council for Dramaturgy in Paris and the Poets’ Academy in London. He holds a PhD in literary theory and works as a lecturer at the University of Tirana.
