A writer and playwright for children and adults. He has written several novels and short-story collections. His plays have been performed and published in Serbia and abroad. His works have won several prizes and been translated into Polish, Bulgarian, English, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Slovene and Macedonian.

Faruk Šehić

Faruk Šehić was born in Bihać (SFRY) in 1970. He’s written the following books: Pjesme u nastajanju (2000), Hit depo (2003), Pod pritiskom (2004), Transsarajevo (2006), Hit depo, Pod pritiskom, Transsarajevo, Apokalipsa iz Recycle bina (2007), Knjiga o Uni (2011) and Moje rijeke (2014). Literary critics often call him the leader of the “run-over generation.” His books Hit depo and Pod pritiskom enjoy the cult status among his readers. For the novel Knjiga o Uni he was awarded the Meša Selimović for the best novel published in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro in 2011, and the European Union Prize for Literature – EUPL in 2013. For the book of poetry Moje rijeke he won the Risto Ratković Award for the best published book of poetry in Ser Risto Ratković bia, B&H, Croatia and Montenegro for the years 2013/2014. His books have been translated into Macedonian, Bulgarian, German, English and French. He works as a journalist and columnist for the Sarajevo magazine BH Dani. He lives in Sarajevo.

Ana Schnabl

Ana Šnabl (1985) is a writer and journalist. She writes for various Slovenian media outlets and the British Guardian. Her short-story collection Unbound (Odvezani, Beletrina 2017; Partizanska knjiga 2018) received the award for the best debut book at the Slovenian Book Fair, followed by two more nominations and the Edo Budiša Award in Croatia. Three years later, her debut novel Masterpiece (Majstorija, Beletrina 2020; Partizanska knjiga 2022) was published, earning acclaim from both domestic and international readers and making it onto the longlist for the Dublin Literary Award. Her second novel, The Tide (Plima, Beletrina 2022; Partizanska knjiga 2024), was nominated for the Kresnik Award. In August 2024, her novel September (Septembar), her fourth work, was released.

György Spiró

György Spiró was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1946. He studied Russian, Serbo-Croation and Hungarian literatures at ELTE, Budapest, with fellowships in the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. In his career, he has worked as a journalist, editor, distinguished professor, dramaturg, artistic and managing director, visiting scholar, lecturer of drama, and translator. Since 1978 he has been a lecturer at the ELTE, Budapest University. His doctoral thesis titled East-Central European Drama from the Enlightenment to the First World War was published in 1986. So far, he has published 10 novels, 3 short-story collections, about 30 plays, a number of essays and monographies, and 6 film scripts. He is fluent in Russian, Polish, Serbo-Croation, Check, Slovak, and English, and he can read French, German, Italian, and Bulgarian. He is the recipient of more than 30 prestigious awards. He is Member of the Belle Lettre’s Union, and of Szechenyi Academy. He lives in Budapest.
