Denis Toms translates from Serbian, Greek and Slovene into Czech, and from Czech into Serbian. He studied in Prague, Novi Sad and Helsinki. Together with other translators, he is working to introduce contemporary Serbian prose to readers in the Czech Republic. In addition to literary translation, he is involved in history and the social sciences, mainly anthropology and sociology. In his doctoral research, he focuses on citizens’ resistance to lithium mining in his native region in north-western Czechia and in Serbia.
