Merima Krijezi was born in 1972 in Belgrade. She graduated from the Department of Albanian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. At the same faculty she got her master’s degree (2006) and her doctorate (2013), defending her doctoral thesis entitled The Meaning of Prepositions in Albanian and Serbian. She is employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Albanian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. Since 2006, she has been a permanent associate of the Institute for the Improvement of Education in Belgrade; from 2004 to 2012 she was a regular contributor to the magazine for literature, art and culture Sveske (Pančevo). She is one of the authors of the electronic Serbian-Albanian / Albanian-Serbian dictionary (with over 35,000 words and phrases in one direction) of the VOC UP platform. The dictionary was published on the website https://www.fjalor-recnik.com/ with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in co-operation with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), the British Embassy in Priština and the Office of the Language Commissioner. She is engaged in translation and has so far published a large number of translations, primarily literary (prose and poetry) from Albanian and Serbian and documentary short films and reportages from Albanian and Serbian into English.
