Steve Sem-Sandberg
Steve Sem-Sandberg was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1958. He is one of the most famous and recognized Swedish writers. He works as a literary critic for the leading newspaper Dagens Niheter in Stockholm. His novel The Emperor of Lies (Swedish: De fattiga i Łódź) won the most prestigious Swedish literary award, the August Prize, in 2009 and since then it has been translated into twenty-seven languages. The novel The Chosen Ones (Swedish: De utvalda) has also been successful. It received the Prix Médicis prize in France for the best translated novel in 2016 and the Prix Transfuge prize for the best European novel. His latest novel The Tempest (Swedish: Stormen) was published in 2016. He lives in Stockholm and Vienna.
